KATHERINE HANLY
PhD Candidate at the University of Calgary
About me
I am a PhD Candidate in Geography at the University of Calgary, researching how mountain communities and guides experience and adapt to climate change. My work bridges science and decision-making: I build large adaptation datasets, translate climate research into actionable insights, and collaborate with partners to strengthen resilience in mountain regions.
Alongside my doctoral research, I work with the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative assessing regional adaptation initiatives across western North America. Previously, I worked as an Environmental Scientist supporting water sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and grant-funded initiatives.
Research
My research interests lie at the intersection of climate change and the human experience, primarily in the mountain cryosphere of the Canadian Rockies.
Contributions
As an aspiring academic, committed to knowledge production and dissemination, I am working hard to create and share thoughtful contributions to my field.
In the Spotlight
